Who we are panel

We are part of a global movement against corruption.

Transparency International Australia is the national chapter of Transparency International, a global coalition against corruption operating in over 100 countries. Each chapter is independent and unique, and together we aspire to a unified vision: a world free of corruption.

Our mission is to tackle corruption by shining a light on the illegal practices and unfair laws that weaken our democracy. We shine a spotlight through our research, which informs our evidence-based advocacy to build a better system. We work collaboratively with businesses, government agencies and community groups to close the loopholes on corruption.

We are proud to work alongside other organisations doing great work and we are members of the Australian Corporate Accountability Network, the Bribery Prevention Network, the Global Compact Network Australia, Publish What You Pay Australia, OECD Watch and the Whistleblowing International Network. We are also proud to partner with Whispli, an award winning provider of tools to help people share information safely and anonymously.

What we do

Transparency International Australia’s 2024–2028 strategy centers on driving systemic change to create a fairer, more transparent society. We are committed to strengthening Australia’s democratic institutions by reforming federal electoral and lobbying laws to curb the influence of big money in politics. Our plan also includes advocating for a national Whistleblower Protection Authority, enforcing stronger anti-money laundering laws, and ending corporate secrecy to deter corruption.

As the world transitions to cleaner energy, we’re working to enhance integrity standards across the mining and energy industries using proven anti-corruption tools, and strong engagement with business.

Beyond domestic reforms, we aim to return corruption proceeds to affected Asia-Pacific communities, raising accountability and fostering trust in governance. We are also supporting the strengthening of civil society voices and transparency champions across the Asia-Pacific, equipping them with tools and resources to hold power to account in their countries.

Our mission is to not only address corruption in Australia but to champion integrity, transparency, and accountability globally, ensuring that power serves the public good.
