Victoria - independent anti-corruption agency?
The release of the Proust Report, currently on the table of the Premier Mr Brumby, will encourage further debate about the need for a Victorian independent anti-corruption agency as a standing commission. An article by TI Australia Chairman, Jerrold Cripps,(link below) states the case for such a standing commission. Press commentary on the issue appeared on Saturday 29 May. 'The Age' newspaper (link below) perceives that within Victoria 'calls are getting louder for an overarching body to tackle the problem'. 'The Australian' (link below) notes that 'The Premier has said he would not release the Proust Report on Monday, but would take time to consider the findings and deliver a response'.
